Writers’ and Creativity Retreat
It is often said that everyone has a book in them. What is true is that many have started – but not finished – a book, or have an idea just waiting to blossom. Why do we not finish (or start) these ideas? Lack of peace or time? Self-doubt? No guidance when or if we hit blocks? Probably a combination of all three. At Balanced Lives we believe that by helping you to structure your day, these problems will resolve themselves, especially when experiencing nature’s beauty. The writing and creativity retreat is designed to enable those problems to be overcome by –
8.15am – 9.15am: Delicious and healthy breakfast.
9.15am – 10.00am: Relaxation and visualisation with Claire Gillman.
10.00am – 12.30pm: Writing Time (we can write together, in silence, or in our rooms)
12.30pm – 1.30pm: Delicious and healthy lunch.
1.30pm – 5.30pm: One-to-one time with Claire Gillman, holistic massages, or wandering in naturel.
5.30pm – 7.00pm: Group Writers’ Session, led by Claire Gillman.
7.00pm: Delicious & healthy dinner and frivolity.
There will be at least one organised afternoon out to clear the head with some wonderful local exploration and discovery. No more excuses now: it’s time to finish, or start, or even start and finish, that book of yours.
Your Coach
Claire Gillman, your professional writing coach for the ten-days, has been a professional writer for 25 years. In that time, she has written twelve books for adults and eight children’s books. She was the editor of several women’s consumer magazines before changing tack to become a regular freelance contributor to many leading magazines and national newspapers, most notably The Guardian and The Times.
As the contributing editor to Kindred Spirit magazine, she combines her dual passions for writing with exploring holistic lifestyles, personal growth and mysticism. She is no stranger to The Hill That Breathes, so she knows how amazing and beneficial the effects of relaxing in such a beautiful setting can be on your writing.
Claire is an editor for The Writers’ Workshop, regularly writing critiques and discussing manuscripts to help writers towards publication. She has also led writers’ workshops and writing groups in various locations over the years, always with the emphasis on fun, style, relaxation and discovering your inner creativity (see www.balancedlives.info).
